This is a very common question, and the answer is clear: no, it is not necessary to believe in Feng Shui for it to work. Mainly because Feng Shui is not a belief system, but a tool that promotes harmony in spaces and, through them, in people’s lives.
It is understandable that those who have never heard of Feng Shui, or who consider themselves skeptical, associate it with something mystical. After all, Feng Shui works with the energy of spaces, something that is neither visible nor easy to explain from a conventional point of view. And although what cannot be seen may be difficult to understand, that does not mean it does not produce results.
What I do consider necessary is giving Feng Shui the opportunity to show what it can offer, and for that, it is equally important to maintain an open and conscious attitude. Often, positive changes are minimized -“it was bound to happen anyway”-and when situations do not unfold as expected, it is quickly concluded that Feng Shui doesn’t work.
It is easy to place the responsibility on Feng Shui when life takes a direction different from the one we had imagined. A friend of mine, María, told me some time ago: “I had Feng Shui at home, and yet Javier and I still separated.” I understood her perfectly. I also had Feng Shui in my home, and that did not prevent my divorce.
